Larry is a flawed protagonist that you cannot help but root for. His measured redemption appears through small acts: giving food, attempting to make restitution for thefts, and choosing repair over denial.I think where Ravel shines brightest is in the settings and landscapes that immerse us in tactile, textured spaces. I actually quite liked being with Larry in his hand-built shelter, where the tiniest luxuries of washed clothes and cooked meals define a completely new view of survival. Overall, this well-written story is grounded in an America that few experience and is absolutely worth the time commitment. Very highly recommend this series!
