This book reviews rports of law enforcement officials who have been arrested and convicted during 2012 of either possessing child pornography or sexually molesting children. It is written by an ex-sex offender in order to offer answers to the questions who molests children, when and where, how and why. But the most important question answered is How is Child Sexual Abuse to be Abolished. From an early age we are taught to respect and trust police. Most of us do. But today we watch the evening news or read that another policeman has molested a child, or was caught with child pornography.We begin to question our reason to trust. How is the molestation or the sexual abuse of children to be anticipated and stopped?At the age of seventy-three I believe I have found answers to the questions: who molests children, where and when, and how and why? But most important I offer recommendations on what must be done to prevent child molestation. In contrast, I examine and explain why what is being done today is not working.Really good computer hackers eventually get caught and go to prison. Some then offer their experience to corporations and get paid well to prevent hacking.Those in favor of hiring hackers (and the hackers hoping to be hired) will argue that “it takes one to catch one.” However, you don’t see law enforcement agencies hiring former murderers to help them catch violent criminals. So It all comes down to a question of trust.I was physically and mentally abused as a child in an orphanage, and sexually abused in a second orphanage. I grew up to commit a similar despicable act for which I was convicted and spent time in the notorious Folsom State Prison in California.This book is part of my effort at redemption. I examine many of the news stories that shock those who hear or read that yet another trusted man with a badge has violated that trust and destroyed a child’s life. In rehashing these news reports I am not anti-police, but I am anti-child sexual abuse.Stopping Sexual Predators before they strike should be the primary focus in the effort to combat child molestation.It is not. Society has determined to waste its resources dealing with predators after they cause damage to children. Although society is certainly justified in using precious resources to PUNISH predators after due process, the ex-sex offender registries are ineffective and counterproductive. They destroy more lives than they purport to save.Instead, society should consider legislating mandatory sexual abuse awareness as early as the first grade. Children need this protection. It should also consider registering adults who are responsible for the academic and spiritual education, and recreation of children instead of using the millions of dollars it spends registering and monitoring former predators whose recidivism rate is extremely low. Registration should detail the consequences for sexually abusing children. Current Sex Offender registration causes unwarranted harm to families of former offenders. It does not protect children from future harm. In addition, society should consider holding parents accountable when they fail to protect their children from predators.The focus of this book is to arm children, parents and others responsible for children by providing answers to the questions: Who is molesting kids and why? It is sad that child abuse is so prevalent by law enforcement people such as the police. We are taught from an early age to respect the Police because they are supposed to serve and protect. However, when this doesn’t happen, our psyches are fractured, and a loss of trust ensues.This book is a sad memoir of how a life can be hampered and destroyed by child molesters who should know better. Steve Mizera was physically and mentally abused as a child in an orphanage. Then they moved him into a second orphanage where he was again molested and abused. This left permanent marks on Mizera.We live in a world where sexual molestation is rampant. There is so much abuse out there that isn’t reported or dealt with properly. Mizera asserts sexual predators can be anywhere. Mostly, sexual molesters are in positions of power where their victims are young, disabled, or shy. These are usually the people who molesters love to go after because they feel that these poor kids will never muster the courage or have the self-confidence to report them.Further, sexual molesters can be anyone. Most of the sexual molester’s attack people who are known to them. Some of them are even relatives or people who shouldn’t even think of abusing kids. Yet, molesters find it easier to abuse kids they know because no one would suspect that they would be abusive towards relatives.So, how can we prevent children from being sexually abused by adults? There are three ways we can do so. First, law enforcement must register all adults who are responsible for the education and recreation of children before sexual assaults occur. Second, legislation must be passed requiring schools to teach sex abuse and how it happens and with whom. Knowledge is power. Kids will then be more aware of the possibilities for abuse and how to avoid it. Third, parents should never leave children alone with suspecting adults. Instead, parents should protect their children from child molesters. Together, these three actions can virtually eliminate child molestation.This is a book that should be read by all parents. They are the ambassadors for change in our society and they must take concrete steps to ensure their kids are not molested. Perhaps its important for parents not to trust other adults, even if these adults aren’t supposed to be abusive towards their kids such as uncles, teachers, priests, and law enforcement.I am saddened by how much child molestation there is out in our world. I so wish we can abolish this terrible plague in our culture. I further wish victims had the courage to come forward and ensure that a person’s abuse is out in the open and can be dealt with.Thank you Mizera for such an important and honest book. It is one of the most poignant books that I have read and reviewed in a long time.

Born in 1940 in Cressona, Pennsylvania, the youngest son of a Russian, immigrant coal miner, he was incarcerated in St. Francis Orphan Asylum in Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania, at the age of two and for the next decade, suffered mental and physical abuse. He ran away from sexual abuse at St. Joseph’s House for Homeless and Industrious Boys at 14 to live on the streets of Philadelphia. Having a strong work ethic he is called a Dime a Dozen by a heartless employer. Steve retaliates by stealing $25,000 in tires in 1956 from Gimbels department store. He fled to Sea Isle City, New Jersey where he taught himself how to repair automatic transmissions. He spent four years in the USAF, sold fruit on the international market for four years, worked as a railroad conductor on Southern Pacific RR and Amtrak for a decade, founded and published a weekly newspaper in a small northern California town for two years while attending law school before going to Alaska to serve in the legislature. Starting life without bonding and winding through decades of rejection and failed relationships, at forty he committed an unthinkable crime and was sentenced to 20 years in California’s notorious Folsom Prison. Following his release he spent two decades in public service. Although raised with a bleak view of the world, it is how his life was transformed at the age of sixty when he was informally adopted by loving immigrants who lead him away from a life of crime, and taught him about the love of Jesus Christ, who became his personal Saviour and redeemer..
