Dr. Zinko The Metal Horn Unicorn With Zinc Magic
Discover the most uniquely brilliant unicorn in the Magical Elementals Chemistry Fantasy Series — Dr. Zinko, the zinc-horned healer-scholar whose magic is rooted in real elemental science. In this chemistry-themed action-adventure fantasy, Dr. Zinko and his trusted companion Lauda — a lead-horned unicorn and master of alchemical insecticides — must race across the magical planet of MarBryn to stop the rogue Morrow chemist Thalvex before he unleashes a catastrophic entropy weapon on an entire region’s water supply.
From the invisible city-ship Halstable to the magic-dampening Red Band of Weita, from the insect-built streets of Bugansville to the crystalline caverns of the Ferrous Depths, this richly imagined world blends ancient chemistry, futuristic elemental technology, and high-stakes fantasy adventure into a story that is as educational as it is thrilling.
Along the way, Dr. Zinko assembles a remarkable team: Wren, a young alchemical cartographer with ink-stained fingers and a map that never lies; Corveth, a field metallurgist carrying six weeks of critical data and an appetite for seed cakes; and Bress, a water systems technician who built her own emergency equipment just in case. Together they face rust plague constructs, underground battle scenes, and a villain whose grievance turns out to be entirely legitimate.
At its core, this is a story about zinc — galvanization, antimicrobial chemistry, enzymatic catalysis, and the blue-white flame of Element 30 translated into breathtaking magical ability. It is also a story about the protector who must learn to be protected, and about the quiet, essential power of the element that keeps everything else from rusting away.
Perfect for fans of chemistry education, science fantasy, magical creature adventures, and character-driven world-building. Ideal for middle grade through adult readers who love stories where the science is real and the magic earns its wonder.
No Metal, No Magic — and Element 30 is the magic that holds it all together.

Sybrina Durant
The books I’ve written span a wide range between illustrated picture books, coloring books and YA novels to technical and how-to books.
My latest efforts are 3 different series of magical periodic table books. The “Magical Elements of the Periodic Table” is a 6 book series. Facts and fanciful information are presented by unicorns, dragons, wizards, knights and goblins. The “No Metal No Magic” series contains single element books created from the information in the previous series. There will eventually be 118 single element books. The 3rd series is called “Magical Elementals Chemistry Fantasy” in which I’ve tried to create some fun science fiction fantasy novelettes that feature unicorns, dragons, wizards, knights and goblin elements using their periodic table inspired magical powers in exciting action adventure stories. There will eventually be 118, possibly even more of these little short introductions into fanciful science. These three series were all created to help make learning science more fun for your tweens and teens.
My Learn To Tie With The Rabbit and The Fox series of books include “Learn To Tie With The Rabbit and the Fox” which is available in English, Spanish and Tagalog plus a special little book to gift to boys in a wedding party. “Nellie Knows How To Knot A Neck Scarf”, “Ned Knows How To Knot A Neck Tie”, “Cleo Can Tie A Bow” and “Boo’s Shoes” are also part of the series.
My Blue Unicorn series of books include the novel – “Journey To Osm – The Blue Unicorn’s Tale”, “The Blue Unicorn’s Journey To Osm Illustrated Book” in color and also in black and white, “Unicorns From Unimaise”, “Lil’ Metal Horn Unicorns” plus a whole bunch of notebooks in the Unicorn Writer series.
I am also the author of “Sybrina’s Phrase Thesaurus” – a 4 volume set of phrases to help overcome writer’s block, “123 Count With Me” and “Yarashell Abbily and Her Very Messy Room.”
