It's rare to see a second book in a series better than the first. The main character is developed further in this book and experiences gradual growth, but he still needs to understand his powers and how they work. A lot of his power is driven by emotion. Secondary characters are skillfully woven through the story and are easy to remember. Hopefully, more time will be spent on Ciara'a's character in the next book.The story itself is well-defined and has a smooth, easy pace. Unlike most books in a series, it has a start and a defined end. This is an excellent sequel, and I can see the story easily continuing into a long series. I can't wait. Bring it on.
